Alta Airport in the county of Finnmark has been closed, after a bomb was found at the end of the runway early Wednesday morning. The bomb was probably dropped during World War II.
Airport officials say there is nothing dramatic about the find, and that the bomb will probably be rendered harmless by explosives experts by the end of the day. The find was made by a construction company working to extend the 2100m runway. The Alta regional airport is serviced by the three airlines SAS, Wideroe og Norwegian. (NRK) Rolleiv Solholm |
