The Russian Yukos Oil Company, which has now become Kvaerner's biggest shareholder, has promised economic support for the Norwegian industrial concern in the future.
The new Norwegian Government will not take part in solving Kvaerner's problems, according to Industrial Minister Ansgar Gabrielsen.Gabrielsen said this, after a meeting with Yukos Chief Mikhail B.Khordorkovskij. Kvaerner's owners, the banks involved and the Kvaerner Board must themselves find a solution to Kvaerner's problems, Industrial Department spokesman Oeistein Oeisjoefoss said.
The Russian industrial leader then went on to meet with the Kvaerner leadership. He had earlier met with Kvaerner's second largest shareholder, Norwegian financier Kjell Inge Roekke.
