Norwegian 18 year olds are nearly twice as often involved in accidents as their peers in other Nordic countries.
At the same time the number of teenagers who die in traffic accidents is increasing. 89 youth between 15 and 24 died last year on Norwegian roads.
This is a significant increase from 1996, when 57 youth died in traffic accidents. In other Nordic countries the trend has turned.
Leader of Safe Traffic, Leif Agnar Ellefset, says that Norway lacks a comprehensive traffic safety policy.(NRK) Rolleiv Solholm |
