Sound waves from seismic data acquisition resulted in increased catches for some species and smaller catches for others. It appears that pollack may, to some extent, have withdrawn from the area, while other species seem to remain.
The export of seafood from Norway reached a new record in February, with an export value for the month of NOK 4.2 billion. This is an increase of NOK 650 million or 18.5 per cent compared with the same month last year.
The export of salmon from Norway is so far this year 33 per cent higher than in the record year of 2009. The industry believes this trend will continue, and that 2010 will be a new record year for Norwegian salmon.
The export of Norwegian salmon continues to increase. The toal value for January reached NOK 1.8 billion, the highest for the month of January ever, and NOK 260 million higher than for the same month last year.
The Norwegian company Cryogenetics Ltd. has made a significant breakthrough by inventing a method for the cryo-(freezing)-preservation of fish embryos down to -130° C (-202° F) .
