Cross Country: Northug third in Sweden

Norway's cross country ace, Petter Northug, captured third place in the 15km seaason opener in Bruksvallarn, Sweden on Saturday. Maurice Manificat of France won, with Sweden's Johan Olson in 2nd.

Norway's Kristian Dahl placed fifth.

However, Northug was very pleased with his placing in the firsts race of the season, considering the lack of snow this winter. - It was a much better start than last year, he said.

And it must also be added that his main Swedish rival over the past years, Marcus Hellner, ended in 9th place.
